A Message from President Karen Rothman

As our modern lives evolve, Hillcrest Jewish Center, and Sisterhood offer a new relevance to meet the needs of all women seeking a network for their voices,  place of acceptance, connection and caring, a place to learn and share our values, a place to enjoy exciting programs and plan a meaningful agenda for the future. We look forward to having you accompany us on this journey and invite you to join Sisterhood.

Sisterhood is a prime fundraiser in support of Hillcrest Jewish Center and other worthy causes. Sisterhood has a group called “Moonlights”. A Rosh Chodesh Gathering for Women.  We meet to schmooze, study and partake in an intergenerational gathering.

Our ongoing Mitzvah program is “Sisterhood Stitchers”,  a group of women who knit baby blankets for the newborns in the Neonatal Unit of Jamaica Hospital. We have delivered over 3000 blankets thus far.

Our most successful fund-raiser of the year is our Shalach Manot  project. We put together 200 bags of Kosher snacks for distribution each year.

Visit our Sisterhood Gift Shop on the Upper Moreida. We have an ever changing selection of merchandise. Make the Sisterhood Gift Shop the first place you go for all your holiday and gift shopping.

We present gifts to each Bar and Bat Mitzvah here at Hillcrest. 

We send shiva and get well packages to aid all members of Hillcrest Jewish Center.

This is just an overview of what keeps us busy during the year. The women of Sisterhood are active and eager to participate.
