The Hillcrest Mental Health Inititative started in 2016 to provide mental health information and support to congregants and to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. We sponsor speakers and send out eblasts about mental health and provide brochures and information in the Hillcrest hallway near the office and on a bulletin board in the Moreida.
To promote the building of relationships needed to prevent and combat anxiety and depression, we run a weekly Connections group on zoom every Monday at 5 p.m. Attendees discuss anything on their minds. It is not necessary to register. Just click on the Hillcrest Connections link on one of the Monday daily emails from Hillcrest, and you can be a part of the conversation. You can come every week, once a month, or once a year. Those who attend feel supported and, as the name says, connected.
If you have questions about Connections or are interested in becoming involved with the Mental Health Initiative in other ways, please contact us. We are always looking for input and help.
